Japan GPS satellite launch delayed due to glitch

Japan GPS satellite launch postponed due to faulty

Tokyo (Reuters) – Japan on Tuesday postponed the launch of the scheme H-2A rocket to put GPS satellites in orbit due to possible leakage of helium gas, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (MHI).

ICM, commissioned by the government to carry satellites into space, postponed Saturday the launch after detecting a decrease in the level of pressure within the tank containing helium gas, which is used to operate the valves of the cooling in rocket engines.

The Company is specifically looking for what caused the pressure to fall, and missiles likely to be launched in early August. 17, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has said the speaker.

the launch of the third GPS satellite is part of Japan’s plan to build a local copy of United States Global Positioning System (GPS) aiming to provide information on the sites autopiloting of policies and national security purposes.

Japan line placed in the fourth space geo-positioning via satellite before the end of the year to start providing the location of information minutes of April next, using the signal from the four Japanese satellites, as well as U. S. GPS satellites and others.

USA GPS margin of error of up to 10 meters (33 feet), but under the new Japanese system, the positioning error will come down to 6 cm (2.4 inches) or less, according to the Cabinet Office.
